[Fix] Downloading Proxy Script Issue in Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome

SUMMARY: If you are trying to open an internet site in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome browser, the browser takes while in loading the web site and shows “Downloading proxy script” message in status bar at the bottom-left corner of the window. This tutorial will assist you in fixing the difficulty and removing this error message which is slowing down website opening.

PROBLEM SYMPTOM:

Many readers have reported me that once they open an internet site in Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome browser, the web site takes several seconds in loading. the online browser displays “Downloading proxy script” (or sometimes “resolving proxy”) message at rock bottom of the window as shown in following screenshot:

It’s not a slow Internet connection problem. the difficulty occurs on faster broadband connections also.

It may become annoying when it happens with most websites and you've got to attend for several seconds before the web site starts loading within the browser.

PROBLEM REASON:

It’s not a fault of the web site or the online browser. Actually the online browser tries to urge current proxy settings from Windows because by default, Windows OS is configured to detect and apply LAN settings automatically.

When we install Windows in our computing system, the choice to detect LAN settings automatically is enabled by default. That’s why, the online browser tries to receive proxy settings from Windows and it's going to take few seconds in scanning and receiving the settings. the online browser keeps displaying “Downloading proxy script” message while it tries to receive settings from Windows. Proxy works sort of a gateway or middle man between Internet and your local network.

Since both Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge web browsers are supported same Chromium project, you get this “Downloading proxy script” issue in these web browsers. I even have not checked but other Chromium-based browsers like Opera and Vivaldi can also display same message in Windows.

PROBLEM SOLUTION:

The solution to repair this annoying issue is extremely easy and straightforward. you'll disable the choice to detect LAN settings automatically in Windows and it’ll fix the matter. Your browser will stop detecting proxy settings and can not show “Downloading proxy script” message while opening websites and every one websites will load faster.

Thanks to our reader “Gaurav Saxena” for sharing the fix.
