 Windows 10 version 21H1, The Next Feature Update to be a Minor Service Pack

Microsoft has announced the name of subsequent feature update for Windows 10 OS. It’ll be called Windows 10 version 21H1 and can be a minor feature update almost like the last feature update (20H2).

Version 21H1 are going to be alittle feature update which can be delivered via Windows Updates in sort of a monthly cumulative update. It’ll be very small in size and can take less time in download and installation. It’ll be delivered using servicing technology of Windows Updates which is employed by Microsoft to deliver monthly cumulative updates.

21H1 are going to be released and delivered in half of 2021, most likely in April or May 2021.

You can consider 21H1 sort of a mini service pack for Windows 10 which can contain improvements and enhancements for performance, security and stability. don't expect major changes or new features during this upcoming feature update.

Please note 21H1 are going to be delivered as alittle update just for Windows 10 version 20H2 and version 2004 (May 2020 Update) users. If you're using an older version of Windows 10 i.e. older feature update, you’ll be unable to upgrade to 21H1 via Windows Update. You’ll got to perform a full installation of 21H1 by downloading and upgrading to 21H1 using official Microsoft tools or offline ISO files.

21H1 will accompany new Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser build-in and therefore the legacy UWP-based Microsoft Edge are going to be removed completely. Microsoft has decided to permanently replace Legacy version of Microsoft Edge with new Chromium version in Windows 10.

Other changes and enhancements in 21H1 are going to be as following:


Windows Hello multicamera support to line the default because the external camera when both external and internal Windows Hello cameras are present.
Windows Defender Application Guard performance improvements including optimizing document opening scenario times.
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) Group Policy Service (GPSVC) updating performance improvement to support remote work scenarios.
So the next feature update i.e. Windows 10 version 21H1 are going to be a really small update which can bring improvements only.

Let me tell you the second feature update of this year i.e. version 21H2 are going to be an enormous and major feature update which can contain many new features and UI changes. 21H2 are going to be released in last half of 2021, most likely in October or November 2021.
